Frequently Asked Questions 

1.) I can’t download an application form!
Read Conditions of Entry - all applications must be submitted on-line.

2.) Will my work be accepted after the closing date?
No, as applications are sent to the pre-selection judge immediately after closing date.

3.) Can I enter a work of art that has already been submitted for another prize?

No. 

4.) Can I enter works in multiple categories?
Yes, you may submit up to 3 works. A separate entry is required for each work. These works can be in any category.

5.) Is there any limit as to the size and weight of an entry?

Yes, framed artwork may not be any larger than 250cm X250cm. Object based art (sculpture) may not be any larger than 250cm X 250cm floor space.

6.) Can I install my own work if necessary?
Yes, but it is up to the discretion of the committee. If the work requires your expertise to assemble, please notify a member of the hanging committee.

7.) What should I use to hang my work?
D-Hooks. All artwork must be framed for hanging, this includes Works on Paper and Photography.

8.) What is a swing tag, and why do I need to attach one to each work?
A swing tag is a free swinging label attached to the d-hook that is used to identify the artwork in its hanging position.
The length of the swing tag attachment (string) needs to be of sufficient length to be visible once the artwork is in place.
For quick processing on delivery day, please have your swing tag attached. It must contain name of artist and name of work.  DO NOT INCLUDE SALE PRICE

9.) If I am selected to exhibit, what do I need to bring on delivery day?
     a.) artwork with swing tag attached
     b.) Statement by a Supplier. This must be completed if the artist does not have an ABN number.
     c.) Artist's Agreement
     d.) Registration Form
These forms will be forwarded to you, once you have been accepted as an exhibiting artist.
For quick processing on delivery day, please have all paper work completed.

10.) Do I have to have an email address?
Yes. all correspondence will be sent by email. Please check your email regularly.

11.) How can I find out what is going on with the preparations for the exhibition?
Up to date news can be viewed on the website www.churchieemergingart.com'. Please check your email regularly as you will be receiving emails at key times in our calendar.

12.) When must I collect my unsold art work?

All unsold artwork must be collected from Wednesday 4 August 2010. Interstate entrants should arrange for a courier collection on that day. The venue is Queensland College of Art Gallery, Griffith University, 226 Grey St, South Brisbane, Qld 4101.

13.) What do I put in my Artist's Statement?
The Artist's Statement is a statement about the Artwork. It must be 35 words or less. It is not a C.V. or biography.

14.) Can I change the artwork submitted?
Yes. You can change your entry up until the close of entries.

15.) What if my image won't upload?
All images should be no more than 72 dpi (less than 2 MB in size). Resizing your image to these specifications should rectify this problem. There are many software products that you can use to do this such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office Picture Manager to name a few.
